What is Mead
Mead is an ancient alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey with water, often infused with fruits, spices, grains, or herbs to create diverse flavors. It has been enjoyed by civilizations worldwide for thousands of years, from medieval royalty to ancient cultures. Mead can range from very dry, like champagne, to rich and sweet, like port. Unlike beer or wine, mead’s unique depth comes primarily from honey, making it a distinct and versatile drink.
Health Benefits
Mead is an all-natural beverage made from honey, water, and yeast, with no need for artificial preservatives or additives. It is naturally gluten-free and sulfite-free, making it a great alternative for those with sensitivities. Since it contains no barley, wheat, or grapes, mead can be a more allergy-friendly option compared to beer or wine.
Mead, especially when made with raw honey, contains antioxidants and antibacterial properties that may support immune health.
